Check out the imposing Rococo Palacio de Estoi, 6 miles (10 km) south of Faro. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the pink facade of this ancient palace turned into a hotel. Once inside, you will be dazed by the rich opulence, the exquisite crafted rooms and the profusion of stuccoed ornaments, mirrors, and magnificently painted ceilings.

Before returning your vehicle, stop at Odeceixe on the west coast of the Algarve. The little-known village with its quaint white houses and red roofs is quiet and pleasant. And if you happen to be there in June, take the opportunity to walk around and admire the coloured pendants and garlands that adorn the streets during the popular Saints Festivals. As your visit is coming to an end, immortalise some magical moments on another drop-dead gorgeous beach, Praia Odeceixe, only 2 miles (4 km) away….
