Do you already know all the major French cities by heart and would like to discover something else? Picturesque and charming small towns that also attract many tourists each year? Do you want to taste other specialties and admire different landscapes? Here is an overview of three cities where you can consider a stay for your next vacation. Located in three different regions, each is full of wonders.

Arles

Arles is a magnificent city that probably has the most Roman-era remains after Rome. It was a refuge for many painters like Van Gogh, who came to admire and depict the city’s wonders through his works. The small cobbled streets, historical tourist sites, bistros, and glasses of rosé ensure an unforgettable stay in one of the most beautiful cities in France.

Besançon

Besançon is a city located in Franche-Comté, the land of cheese and sublime landscapes. Besançon is surrounded by the Doubs, a river that forms a natural loop around the Old Town. The fortified citadel built by Vauban is one of the jewels of French architecture and offers spectators a magnificent view of the entire valley. This pleasant and picturesque city is full of charm, and its buildings and specialties are worth a visit.

Biarritz

In the heart of the Basque Country, Biarritz is a seaside town of a human scale. Its cobbled streets and promenades along the Atlantic Ocean make this city a very popular seaside resort for vacationers. Between Basque specialties like the famous cake of the same name and constructions like the Rocher de la Vierge, a building from which you can admire the entire bay, Biarritz is an ideal destination.
