Christmas holidays: original destinations

Christmas holidays are approaching, and it’s time to make plans to make the most of these days off. Renting a car during the holidays offers all the autonomy needed to visit Christmas markets for a day or go on longer trips. Here are some original ideas for a successful holiday!
Christmas markets all over France
Whether you live in Paris, Marseille, Strasbourg, or a smaller town, there is bound to be a Christmas market not far from you! Those living in eastern France are certainly aware that in Strasbourg (connected to Paris by the A4 motorway, to Burgundy and the south by the A36, and to surrounding towns by the A35), one of the most magnificent Christmas markets in Europe takes place on the cathedral square. As for Christmas markets, the south of France is not left out: Avignon (about forty kilometers from Nîmes via the A9), Aubignan (30 kilometers from Avignon via the D942), or Cassis (about thirty kilometers from Marseille via the A50) display nativity figurines, gourmet products, and handicrafts to the delight of visitors.
Winter weekends or stays
You might be lucky enough to have time off during these holidays, or you might want to enjoy the extended Christmas or New Year’s weekend differently. Renting a car will allow you to easily reach your desired destination. About 40 kilometers from Paris, 110 from Reims via the A4 motorway, and 160 from Orléans via the A10 motorway, Disneyland, the famous amusement park located in Marne-la-Vallée, shines brightly with special events during the Christmas period. This year, instead of skiing in Savoie, opt for cross-country skiing in the Jura or hiking in the Pyrenees! The Les Rousses ski area in the Jura, about 5 hours’ drive from Paris, 2 hours from Lyon, and 3 hours from Mulhouse, is a true pristine paradise. At 310 kilometers from Bordeaux via the A65, 220 from Biarritz, and 180 from Toulouse via the A64, the Pic du Midi offers snowshoe hikes and unforgettable nights at the mountain summit.
