Driving in Seville
On main roads in and around Seville the speed limit is capped at 50 km/h, while country roads are 90 km/h and a maximum of 120 km/h on motorways. When cars overtake you on the motorway they will flash their lights at you, do not panic!
There are a number of one-way streets and dead ends in the historic centre so it is best to avoid driving this part of the city. However, there are lots of parking options. Certain car parks cost €2 per hour, whilst on-street parking is strictly limited to 45-minute stays. It is advised to park on the edge of the city and navigate the rest by foot.
There are several tolls across Spanish roads. You can pay these with cash and credit/debit cards. There are specific lanes for any cards paying with credit/debit cards.
Discover Seville and surroundings by car
Seville is without a doubt the jewel of Andalusia, it can be enjoyed on the cheap, strolling through the impressive Plaza de Espana at sunset, or ogling the decadence of the many churches and cathedrals. But the rest of Andalusia is also worth visiting, a microcosm of the best that Spain has to offer, with the warmest climate in Europe. Religious processions, sherry tasting, guitar-playing troubadours and flamenco dancers, this heady mix makes for a memorable trip.
Do not miss the chance to roam the cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings of Carmona (34 kilometres) or the sprawling Roman ruins of Merida (192 kilometres) to the north.
Travelling onwards? Malaga (205 kilometres), Grenada, (248 kilometres) and Faro (200 kilometres) across the border in Portugal are all within driving distance.
