In Finland, cars are driven on the right hand side of the road and overtaking is to the left. Speed limits for cars are 50km/h in built-up areas, 100-120km/h on motorways, and a variable limit of between 80 and 100km/h on other roads.

In towns and cities most on-street parking is chargeable – you will need to pay at a ticket machine and then display the ticket inside your car.

Be aware that if you are driving further afield into more rural and remote areas, petrol stations may be further apart so plan your journey carefully. Credit cards are accepted at most petrol stations.

If you run into any problems on your journey, you can dial 112 from anywhere in Europe and an operator will connect you to an emergency service in the country you're visiting. Operators can answer your call in their native language, English, and French.
