Special mention goes to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, in the Bay of Biscay. Walk the worm-thin 231-step passageway across the crag to the island that the 10th century church sits upon. From Barcelona you can travel to the islands of Ibiza and Mallorca via car ferry, or travel south along the coastline to Valencia (350 kilometres).
