Discover Zaragoza with Europcar

Rent a car in Zaragoza with Europcar
With its ancient ruins, UNESCO listed Moorish architecture and a lively food scene - Zaragoza is one of the most underrated cities in Spain. The good thing about the city is that it is relatively calm compared to cities like Barcelona or Madrid.
Situated to the north east, Zaragoza is near Basque country and the French border. Car hire in Zaragoza offers great opportunities to venture to other regions, when and how you want.
The Europcar car rental experience in Zaragoza
There are two convenient locations for car hire in Zaragoza - one at the airport and another at the railway station. Both these options are typical if you arrive by international or domestic transport. Pick up your rental car and be on your way as soon as you land in Spain.
Whatever your journey, Europcar has the rental car in our fleet to suit you. Small group or solo adventure? Economy car hire will be perfect. Top rental options include Fiat 500 or Nissan Micra. Bigger parties or families can look to the Seat Leon Station Wagon or Volkswagen Touran. Roadtrippers with even larger groups can travel with the 7-seater Seat Alhambra or 9-seater Mercedes Vito Tourer.
Moving or transporting larger loads? Europcar Zaragoza also offers a selection of van hire.
With Europcar, organise your Zaragoza car hire your way. Pick up and drop off your car rental at different stations and rent for days, weeks or months at a time.
Driving in Zaragoza
When you rent a car in Zaragoza or other cities in Spain, you just need an EU or EEA driver’s licence. International driver’s licences are accepted but not mandatory.
Speed limits are maximum of 120 km/h for motorways, 50 km/h in urban areas, and 90 km/h on country roads. On motorways, cars will often indicate that they want to overtake you by flashing their headlights.
There is not a wealth of parking in the centre of Zaragoza, if there is it will be indicated by blue or orange road markings. Parking applies from Monday through Friday from 9am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm. There are two on-street parking zones; in the orange zone the maximum stay is one hour, in the blue zone you can stay for a maximum of 2 hours. Parking is free on Sundays and public holidays.
Zaragoza has several off-street car parks which are advised for longer stays.
There are several tolls on Spanish roads which can be paid using cash, credit/debit cards and electronic devices called Telepeaje or Via T transmitters. These can be bought from banks or petrol stations.
Discover Zaragoza and surroundings by car
There is so much history, food and culture to soak up in Zaragoza you will not struggle to fill a week in this town. Add to that a healthy nightlife thanks to the local University and there is really something for everyone. If you are there in mid-October, you will not be able to avoid the citywide Fiestas del Pilar, a week-long celebration in honour of patron Saint Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
Under an hour south of Zaragoza is Fuendetodos (47 kilometres) - the birth town of Goya. Here you can visit the 18th century farmhouse where he was born. Today, this houses the Goya Museum and is filled with some great masterpieces including Los Desastres de la Guerra and Los Disparates.
Not had enough culture yet? To the north lies Huesca (74 kilometres), a town with over 2,000 years of history preserved within its medieval walls. The ancient winding streets hide treasures including Monasterio de San Pedro el Viejo, a Benedictine monastery built in the 11th century.
Just beyond Huesca are the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Parks, home to the UNESCO protected Monte Perdido. Nearby this is the Cañones de Guara Natural Park, a great spot of outdoor activities including hiking.
